A collection of my favourite photos. At the time of writing, the cover photo at the top of the page is of a popular spot at Loch Etive – Scotland. I haven’t been here for a few years, preferring to frequent the quieter, seldom fished areas of these lochs – often combining fishing with a bit of wild camping. But to this day this photo is still one of my favourites; fine weather, water like mirrored glass – and no midges! The scenery up here is always astonishing whatever the weather but even then I’d never seen the loch looking so beautiful before.

A strap conger from Holyhead Breakwater – one of those nights where the fish were feeding hard
My first ever Common Skate from a Scottish Highland Loch – a female est. 30lb by the charts. If I could fish exclusively in Scotland I would, such a beautiful place.
A stunning view looking out from Brimnes cabins – Ólafsfjörður, Iceland. The sea fishing in northern Iceland is out of this world!
A beautiful male Cuckoo Wrasse from a North Wales rock mark
Steve posing with a nice Bull Huss just shy of 10lb – Dumfries and Galloway
My best Turbot to date – 1lb 3oz. We get a lot of smaller fish on Drudge Bay. There was an interesting study conducted on this stretch by NIFCA, with conclusions suggesting the site was a potential nursery for many species. But you do get the occasional surprise!
Its very hard not to get distracted by the scenery in Iceland whilst fishing. A particularly glorious sunny day in Siglufjörður
A bit of a novelty species and one I’ve not caught for a few years – a Yarrells Blenny from Tynemouth Pier.
The hound (Koda) accompanied me for a weekends camping/fishing/mutting about up at Loch Etive. We were forced to take refuge in the tent during a heavy rainstorm – just as well really as he was even more knackered than me!
We’re gifted with some cracking marks for winter cod here in the north east if you put the hours in during the right conditions. Occasionally I’ll keep a few for the fryer.
Mike presents a 12lb+ Scottish Bull Huss in all its toothy glory.
Icelandic dinner plate Dabs. The same day I reeled in a triple shot with a combined weight of over 7lb! The place is carpeted with them at times, with most fish going over 2lb
Not altogether fishy – spotted whilst retreating to the car following a very poor session in Wales
One of the best tasting fish in the North Sea – a 9lb Atlantic Wolfish from the shore in Iceland
Name escapes me – one of Icelands many beautiful waterfalls
A nice, easy session on Druridge fishing for whatever’s there
Some new, edible Dryads Saddles popping out in the local park. I’ve eaten these before – they have a taste crossed between cucumber and watermelon. These were prime dog height though so best left alone!
A disgruntled looking Bass is safely released
And another…. same venue different session
Finally got a big shore Skate in 2021 – 178lb!
First open sea voyage on the kayak just out of Newbiggin. Be rude not to have a beer.
