Anglers and Danglers is a website primarily about fishing – shore fishing in the UK to be exact, although I do dabble in the occasional bit of fluff chucking as well. As a general lover of the outdoors though, don’t be surprised to find my over-dramatic regaling of fishing escapades interspersed with random posts about other outdoor activities – hiking, shooting, camping, photographs of interesting flora and fauna (interesting to me anyway) – even the family farm may feature occasionally!

My name is Liam and I’m the “founder” of this website, which basically means I have the privilege of paying for the web domain every 3 years.
As you might have guessed, I’m based in the UK (North East) and I love fishing. For me there are few better soul medicines than sitting watching the rod tips in anticipation of that next fish. Whether heavy beach rods with big leads/baits for larger specimens, or ultralight LRF gear for species hunting, there’s nothing quite like the sense of achievement that comes with targeting something specific and catching it – although sometimes it is nice to just fish for what ever the heck is in front of you. I would say 95% of the fish I catch are returned save for the occasional table sized fish and some mackerel for freezer bait; for me its predominantly about the sport and just being out and I get a greater satisfaction out of seeing the fish I catch swim away healthy.

Why did I start this site? A few reasons – I enjoy documenting my sessions and try to put a decent amount of effort into doing so. Its surprising when you look back at something you wrote over a year ago and realise all the finer details you’d forgotten. Sometimes this can remind you what went well and what didn’t, other times its just about reliving the experience.

Do be sure to have a look at my blog for catch reports, tips and general goings on.
